Two New Teaching Jobs

Hello All,

So starting at the end of this week, I will be an adjunct at not one but TWO colleges in the area. The first college:

Kenyon College located in Gambier, OH is private college with a rigorous liberal arts program. I will be the adjunct instructor of low brass in  their music department. Even though they don’t have a large department, a majority of their students are involved in music whether it be ensembles and/or private lessons. I’m excited about teaching here because of the different level of students I could potentially have. Anything from a student who has never picked up an instrument to a composition major that plays tuba. In addition to teaching, I will be re-joining their orchestra and looking forward to concerts which will include Brahms 4 and others.

My second teaching position will be at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, OH (45 minutes from Columbus and 5 minutes from Kenyon). At MVNU, I will be the adjunct instructor of low brass as well as their Pep Band Director. I am particularly excited about this position because I will be getting back in to directing a pep band, one of my favorite activities in undergrad. What is unique about MVNU is they are in the same conference as Grace College for athletics. In addition to my conference allegiance, MVNU is building a new arena that is similar to Grace’s Orthopedic Capital Center. One of my primary duties with the pep band will be to help with recruiting for the band and music department and to help increase the band’s presence on campus as an organization and ambassador for the school.

(FYI, I really really really like pep band!!!!)

So this will be a fun year for me. Building Better Brass Players. Building a PEP Band. Becoming a better musician myself.  I’m excited for this new chapter.

Until next time.
